Botox is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium and is the most well known brand on the market, although there are other brands which we also use (Bocouture, Azzalure, Vistabel, Xeomin and Dysport). It works by temporarily weakening the muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles, resulting in a dramatically smoother, younger-looking appearance. The effects are outstanding which is why this is the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world!
In order to understand how to treat clients, it is essential to have a good understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the muscles of the face and neck. Although it is important to look at lines of expression on the face, if this is how you judge your treatments, you’re bound to run into problems, only by knowing how the muscles work and palpating the muscles will you ever be a competent injector.
