HOW TO USE
Limit initial use to once or twice a week; gradually increase frequency to every other night, and finally each evening as tolerated. Apply a pea-sized amount of Retinol 0.5 or Retinol 1.0 to thoroughly cleansed skin in the evening. Carefully avoid the eyes and the corner of the eyes. To ensure optimal results, wait at least 30 minutes before applying any corrective or moisturising products the same evening as applying SkinCeuticals Retinol products.
Retinol is prone to increase photosensitivity. Always use a high, broad spectrum sunscreen when using this product.
As a precaution, retinol cream products should not be used by pregnant women

Directions
In the evening, apply 4-5 drops to dry clean skin, avoiding the eye area. Allow for absorption before applying other skincare products. Limit initial use to once or twice a week, gradually increasing frequency as tolerated. Begin using two evenings a week, then gradually increase frequency to every other night, and finally once an evening as tolerated. Retinol is prone to increase photosensitivity. Always use a high, broad spectrum sunscreen when using this product. CAUTION Topical retinoids are an effective treatment for photo-aging, but dosage tolerance varies significantly from user to user. Though proper skin acclimation is helpful, and in most cases successful, some people may never be able to tolerate high concentrations of retinol. Side effects, generally referred to as retinoid dermatitis, can include skin flaking/peeling, stinging (especially upon application of other skincare products), slight to moderate erythema, and – in severe cases – hot spots and scabbing. Begin with Retinol 0.3/ 0.5 and apply it only once or twice a week for a period of two to three weeks. Frequency of application should be determined by the user’s comfort level. Peeling is normal and will subside over time, although stinging and erythema are not. Discontinue use of the product for a few days if any symptom of discomfort persists for a prolonged period. Retinol is photo-sensitising — broad-spectrum sun protection is a must when retinol is part of your skin care regimen. As a precaution, retinol products should not be used by pregnant women, or women who intend to become pregnant in the near future. Though there are no reports of topical retinol having any negative effect on fetal development, some problems have been reported with ingested retinoic acid.
